Dyfi Timber Co is a proud supplier of premium Welsh timber.

We are based in the Esgair Forest, which was planted over 80 years ago in the heart of the Dyfi Forest, South of Snowdonia National Park. The forest and timber businessesare managed by Dan Atherton alongside Dyfi Bike Park which shares the Pantperthog site. 

Dan, an internationally recognised mountainbiker and trail builder was drawn to the area by its mature tree cover and spectacular terrain and scenery -perfect for downhill mountain biking and the ultimate training ground for his World Champion siblings Gee andRachel.

 For four years Dan crafted his mountain-bike trails and learnt the timber trade. He worked alongside an experienced forestry staff headed up by 2nd generation Esgair woodsman Micky Evans before purchasing the forest and sawmill and taking control. 

At Dyfi Timber Co all our wood is cut to order, bespoke for you. We specialise in oversize timbers cut to your specification on our Pezzolato mill and we have a large scale drying kiln which will enable us to supply low –moisture content timber for furniture making and internal construction. 

The nature of our timbers and an ecological approach mean that it is supplied untreated, the absence of harsh chemicals making it “ a real pleasure to work with”

OUR FOREST

Dyfi Timber is based at the heart of the Esgair Estate 500 acres of commercial coniferous and deciduous forest set wihin the Dyfi Forest in the Southern area of Snowdonia National Park. Warm and moist growing conditions, varied topography and the estate character of the forest mean that we have access to an unrivalled selection of raw materials including a high proportion of large, mature specimens perfect for large exposed beams. The forest was first plantedbetween 1940 and 1965 and has supplied premium Welsh timber ever since. In the 1970s the Forest was owned by the Windham family who first earned recognition as pioneers of sustainable private forestry –a baton we are proud to carry into the 21stcentury. We also process locally sourced timber from farms and forests throughout Mid Wales. All of our timber is felled and cut to order.Our main coniferous species are; Douglas Fir, European Larch, Sitka Spruce, Western Red Cedar, Lawson Cypress, Western Hemlock , Norway Spruce, Noble Fir and Grand Fir. Our Deciduous species are; Sessile Oak, Birch, Beech, Chilean Beech and Sweet Chestnut.
